Central Michigan University’s (CMU) Professional Sales Program continued its impressive performance with another dominant year in collegiate sales competitions. Carew International partnered with CMU to create the prestigious CMU Professional Sales Program in 2008, and continues to provide propriety training content for the university’s sales development courses.
For the 2014-2015 academic year, regional and national recognition of the program include: first place at the national Pi Sigma Epsilon (professional selling fraternal organization) Pro-Am Sell-a-Thon (Spring 2015), two student quarter finalists in the National Collegiate Sales Competition (Spring 2015), first place in both the Competitive and Educational categories at the Ball State Regional Competition (Fall 2014), and second place at the Pi Sigma Epsilon North Central Regional Competition (Fall 2014). In addition, the program has been named by the Sales Education Foundation on its annual list of Top University Sales Programs – an honor bestowed on this program every year since 2009.At the recent PSE national sales competition, five CMU students placed in the top 25, from more than 400 students who competed. The overall winner was CMU senior, Ben Devereaux, who led his team to being the first Pi Sigma Epsilon chapter to ever win the competition three years in a row. The win resulted in Devereaux being named the top collegiate sales person in the U.S. “Winning this competition is the epitome of my college career,” said Devereaux. “To me, it means that when you go into such competitions, if you focus on the team, and not just yourself, success will follow.”
Kenneth Cherry, an assistant professor of marketing and professional sales at CMU, recognizes the successes that have resulted from Carew’s support of CMU’s Professional Sales Program. “Our CMU sales students have been so successful because of our sales training partnership with Carew International,” said Cherry. “After consistently seeing CMU students win these competitions, last year Pi Sigma Epsilon approached us to see if Carew would be willing to partner with them as their sales training partner for all regional and national competitions… and now Carew is the Sales Training Partner for the entire PSE organization (65+ chapters, over 4,500 students nationwide)… In my 25 years of association with CMU, no one has done more for students, both academically, and in their careers, than (Carew CEO) Jeff Seeley.”
